Year 9 - 11 - Lesson ideas

Curriculum Focus:

• The Year 9-11 Football curriculum develops students' technical skills, tactical understanding, leadership, and decision-making through a game-centred approach based on Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) and the Sport Education Model. 

• Through the activities we have created students learn to create and exploit space, maintain possession, defend effectively, transition between attack and defence, and apply tactical principles in competitive situations. 

• Students are encouraged to analyse performance, communicate effectively, solve tactical problems, and make informed decisions under pressure while developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Learning culminates in a Champions League Season, where students take on a variety of roles including coach, captain, referee, analyst, journalist, and statistician, promoting leadership, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of football beyond participation as a player.
